RESIDENTIAL BATHROOM
This project was a renovation of a bathroom and toilet in a Canberra home. The brief was to keep it modern, but with a homely rather than hotel feel. The owner wanted to keep the bath, but with size restrictions, the shower had to remain over it. To avoid the hazard of climbing over the bath lip to have a shower, we sunk the bath into the floor so now you can walk down into it.

The original 1961 basin was re-enamelled and the stainless components were all polished and restored.

The floor tiles are Terrazzo, popular in the mid 20th century. Rather than applying the Terrazzo throughout the bathroom like a concrete surface, we used it in tile form to acknowledge the era and then used two other tiles for interest.

The timber batten ceiling is spotted gum and ties in with ceiling feature in other areas of the house. The unusual toilet pan is Alessi and is unusual but appealing.
